National Grade 2 Championships
We went with just 2 of our Grade 2s, and planned to have a brilliant weekend
Emma Nicholson Under 19 F, Emma's warm-up routines were a credit to her commitment through the year. She deservedly qualified to be the hall to compete in these Championships with the best in Grade 2. Unusually Emma lost her way in the competition routines, and came in 13th. We are all looking forward to seeing her in Grade 1 next season.
Charlotte Wilkinson Under 15 F, competing in one of the largest and strongest groups, Charlote pulled out two creditable routins and finished 20th. In the second round she achieved a Personal Best for tariff (see alongside).

Julie Gooderick Validation Over 19 F
Julie is back on track to Validate for Grade 1 next year with a delightful Voluntary round and a Tariff PB.
Emma Nicholson Over 19 F
An opportunity for Emma to test out her Vol. alongsde her peers, in preperation for the Grade 2 Nationals. Form was good enough to be lying 2nd in the group after round 2. She went on to produce a stunning final, fell over after the last move, and still came 3rd! (see right).
Charley O'Dell Under 15 F
she put in two credible performances, and gained the score required to compete at Grade 2 next year. Well done Charley!!particularly her Voluntary round.
Charlotte Wilkinson Under 15 F
aiming high to try out her Nationals Voluntary, Charlotte breezed through the Set, then settled to the taks at hand. In the Voluntary, the first move went really well (Double Front Somersault with half Twist), then by move four relaxed and brought the volutine to an unexpected end.

Andrew King Grade 4 Over 17 M
Our only entrant, Andrew went there for only one Goal, and returned King of the Region's Grade 4s. He win the Group, but of far more importance to Andy, he's graduated to Grade 3. In the final he gave the watching Grade 3 boys a glimpse of what they can expect next year, with a Double Front Somersault - 1/2 Out (t) and 1 1/2 Twisting Front somersault - Rudi, routine. p.s Andrew's first win !!, tease him.

Grade 1 National Championships
Graham was entered in two competitons as last year. He scored really well with both set routines, and was unlucky to have to modify the Vol in the Elite Men, which was looking stunning. In the Age group his technical performance took him comfortably to 8th place, and into the Finals, where he gained one more place.
Kayleigh in the Over 19 F class. was there to show the result of 12 month's changes in her training regime, aimimg to improve her ranking. Whilst the investment might take some further time to translate into an overall gain in results, Kayleigh was delighted with her performances.

Grade 3 - 5 Harlow - June 2006 - Harlow Leisure Centre
We entered 18 of our Grade 3s, 4s and 5s; - 2 fell by the wayside, and we turned up with 16 at this Regional competition.
This included newcomers Mae Pearce and Tabitha Maddison experiencing their first Graded competitions. They acquitted theirselves well, and settled into the friendly team environment that everyone enjoys so much.
3 Trophies, for Clara Williams, Molly Hurford & Hannah Livett, also 4 of the 16 that competed exceeded their Personal Bests. (If you don't compete, then you can't gain personal bests or trophies).
Clara came 1st in Grade 3 Over 19 F, and qualified for Grade 2 !!, Molly came first in Grade 4 Under 11 F, and qualified for Grade 3; & Hannah came 2nd in Grade 5 Under 15 F.

At any competition, improving over your past best performances is always a success, so , well done to Charlotte Robinson, Jessica Impson Davey, Molly hurford and Daisy Longden.

Graham Williams Elite Men
Graham looked really comfortable, and scored the second best Set routine of the day, he went to to produce two more fine routines, playing safe wth the tariff to ensure qualification for this class at the British Championships.

Kayleigh McCarthy Over 19 F
"I was pleased to have improved on my set scores at this competition as well as including the Rudi-out T at the start of my vol. I made the finals and produced a better quality vol in round 3 to finish in 6th place which I am very happy with."

After two succesfull routines, Julie has almost certainly scored enough to retain Grade 2 qualification.
Emma Nicholson Validation Under 19 F
Qualified for Grade 1 !!! - she joins a very elite group of about 50 girls who are the very best in Great Britain, and from whom our Olympic representatives are chosen.
Charlotte Wilkinson Under 15 F
Charlotte jumped out of her skin, and again showed the magical form we see in training. She qualified for the Grade 2 National Championships, joining Emma Nicholson. Charlotte is justifiably delighted with this fantastic result.

Grade 1 Wales, Cardiff - April 2006 - Welsh Institute Of Sport
We had entered Graham Williams in the Elite Men category again, and Kayleigh McCarthy in the Grade 1 Over 19 F.
Kayleigh McCarthy Over 19 F
"I didn't produce the best of my set and vol at this event. However I am saving that for Nationals!"
Kayleigh also reports on the Synchro competition that she enjoyed on Sunday 23rd, "This was the first time I had competed with my new Synchro partner Sarah and with only a few weeks practise we were very happy to produce three stable routines and finish in 2nd place!"

Graham looked really uncomfortable, suffering from a heavy cold, and had to withdraw.
Kayleigh McCarthy Over 19 F
Kayleigh produced a good set routine, acheiving the minimum required set score and in her voluntary round went on to score into the 8.0's. Kayleigh achieved an overall score of 54.6 qualifying for the British National Championships and retaining Grade 1. Kayleigh's voluntary was the second highest form score from her group of 35 and she finished in 11th place overall.

Sarah Turner Open - Under 19 F
Sarah loked really comfortable at her third National championship, and produced two great routines with confidence.
Kirsten Gregory Open - Under 15 F
Kirsten looked really impressive throughout the competition. In forth place after the set routine, Kirsten was using a modified version of her normal routine, and produced a really creditable result with it.

Emma performed two great routines, and introduced a half-out for her first time in competition. she moved to second place and qualified for the National Championships. With the highest second round score, Emma was clearly going to be the one to beat. We reckon this new experience for Emma was too new to handle, and with adrenalin flowing at full-bore, started her routine with the highest bestest half-out of her life, and of course couldn't avoid flipping straight over. Ah Well!! Well done Emma, a performance of a lifetime!
Charlotte Wilkinson Under 15 F
Charlotte jumped out of her skin, and showed us the magical form we've seen in training recently, in the lead after the first round, joint second after the second. First time into a Grade 2 Finals, and Charlotte loved every minute of it!! Her third round was off just a minor amount, and she slipped to 6th place. This in a group of 40+ was a lifetime best performance, however, not reflected in the scores, but certainly in the placing.

A huge competition spread over 5 panels, that included 3 of our members, we also saw a few old friends.
Kirsten Gregory Open Individual Under 15 F
After a great set, and slightly odd marking, Kirsten was lying in forth place. Her vol was one of th strongest in the competition, and she pulled back to 2nd place. Agreat ersult and takes her to the National Championships
Sarah Turner Open Team Under 19 F
Sarah produced two very similar routines, and demonstrated the hard work she is putting into her sport. The team came first, and thus qualified for the National Championships.
Lucia Solano Closed Team Under 13 F
Lucia and her team mates produced sound routines, and were a credit to their school. The competition was very intense, and Roundwood were unlucky to miss the cut to the Nationals.

Grade 3- 5 East, Hitchin, Hitchin Boys School
First time this event has been to Hitchin in Herts, and our thanks to Richards T.C. for hosting this event. We entered 24 of our Grade 3s, 4s and 5s, 2 fell by the wayside, and we turned up with 22 at this Regional competition.
This included newcomers Hannah Livett and Esther Hodson experiencing their first Graded competitions. Both acquitted theirselves well, and settled into the friendly team environment that everyone enjoys so much, and Hannah won a medal!.
6 Trophies, 2 Team First, 3 Qualifying scores, & 8 of the 22 exceeded their Personal Bests

2nd place Charley O'Dell, 3rd place Charlotte Wilkinson, who both regained the Grade 2 qualifying score, 3rd place for Charlotte Robinson 2nd place Jessica Impson Davey (qualifying score for Grade 3), 2nd place Sophie Bown, Louise Ashenden = 3rd place score, but using "tie-break" rules came 4th.
1st Team Medals went to Emma Preedy, Gemma Davis, Charley O'Dell, Charlotte Wilkinson, & Rebecca Lynch (Grade 3 Under 15 F) and to Louise Ashenden, Daisy Longden, Hannah Livett, & Charlotte Bower (Grade 5 Under 15 F).
