Grade 2 Northern - South Shields
Last Grade 2 before the National Championships, we entered the full Grade 2 squad of six ...
It was a long way for everyone, but valuable lessons were learnt by all.
Julie Gooderick - Produced a two nice routines, and qualified for the Grade 2 National Championships
Emma Nicholson finaled and came in 9th with very impressive jumping in the final (full commitment to success and we loved watching it even if our necks felt a little strained after).
Adam Miller did not compete well for the first time ever and we took away some very positive attitudes toward training times and routine requirements that he would like to incorporate.
Charley O'Dell completed her new competitive tariff Vol successfully. She displayed a very solid technical foundation for her jumping and takeoff techniques, that will be great for her as she learns to use it effectively.
Charlotte Wilkinson did a very good job of competing two positive routines and focusing.
Rosie Spreadbury was withdrawn as she found herself unable to focus on competiting.
Their performances at the Competition are shown below.

Grade 1 National Championships
Graham was entered in two competitons as last year. He scored really well with both set routines, and was unlucky to have to halt the Vol in the Elite Men, which was looking stunning. In the Age group his technical performance improvements over the year took him to 4th place. A "best ever" achievment.
Lauren & Kayleigh in the Over 18 F class each produced excellent routines, reflecting their efforts this year to significantly improve the quality of their performances. Both were delighted with their routines.

Last Grade 2 before the summer recess, we entered the full Grade 2 squad of seven ...
It was a long way for everyone, but valuable lessons were learnt by all.
Stephen - Despite dissapointing scores for the set, Stephen produced a Personal Best tariff in the second & third round
Rosie - it wasn't Rosie's day, but she pulled off a voluntary routine. Well done!
Charley - A great set, but sadly tucked her legs on the second move, so was only marked out of 1. No such trouble in the voluntary, so all to play for next time.
Charlotte - Following Charley's lead, Charlotte also tucked her straight barani in her set and was marked out of 1. She picked up some points in her voluntary though - good work.
Emma - Emma jumped high and achieved the qualifying score for her set routine, but couldn't match it in the vol. She kept the crowd entertained with a spectacular catapult from one trampoline to another in warm up though
- apparently she wanted to try out all the trampolines!
Julie - Produced a nice set, but sadly it didn't persuade the judges. Jules made a couple of substitutions in her vol, but just to prove she could do two doubles slipped them in at moves 11 and 12!!
Their performances at the Competition are shown below.

Graham Williams Stunning set routine, especially as it contain 2 monster moves,, put Graham ino 7th place after the Set. Unluckily he slipped up halfway through the Vol, and cuaght the end deck doing a comparitively easy move.
Kayleigh McCarthy Keen as ever, Kayleigh laid down a strong foundation with her new Ladies set scoring 25.8, Her Vol went pleasingly well, and she finiseh 15th, just 2.0 short of a place in the finals.
Lauren Shipman Suffered a bout of tonsilitus in the week leading up the competition. Being the fighter that she is she came and gave it a go, but she was just too weakened to score well

Grade 1 Northern Ireland, Newry.
Fifth Grade 1 of the season, neither Kayleigh or Terry had been to Northern Ireland, and went for the experience ... and what an experience it was
Kayleigh McCarthy Keen as ever, Kayleigh laid down a strong foundation with her set scoring 25.8, a best ever at Grade 1, all fired up she really wanted to perform the new Voluntary and it went brilliant. Scoring 33.3 it gained another place, and obtained qualification for Elite Ladies. Time was running out, and with a 40 mile drive to the airport the question was whether to stay for the final, or catch the plane. We just managed to do both, and Kayleigh came away with 2nd place and a career best performance.
Her performances at the Competition are shown below.

Grade 1 Wales, Welsh Institute Of Sport Cardiff.
The fourth Grade 1 of the season, and one that we never miss, as there is an overnight stay and the Mid-season synchro the following day.
Graham Williams Unusually Graham fluffed his set, he couldn't quite explain how he came to take his mind off of the task in hand. Determined to rectify this he repeated it twice more until on round three he got it perfect, and finished in 6th place.
Kayleigh McCarthy Kayleigh's set routine didn't produce the scores we had hoped for, so she decided to drop the tariff for the voluntary round and aim for better form marks. Kayleigh did improve on her scores from her first Grade one of the season and placed 11th just missing out on the final.
Lauren Shipman produced her best Grade 1 performance this year, and secured 3rd place, and the qualification to Elite Ladies. (Spookily her result was precisely the same as last year in Wales, 91.7 total, and 3rd place).
Club performances at the Competition are shown below.

Sunday and the Synchro was as much fun as usual,
Kayleigh and Nikki Pugh (Stockport) were in 2nd place after the Set, then Kayleigh miss-heard Nikki's call for the 2nd routine, leaving Nikki to start it by herself.
Lauren and Julie were right behind Kayleigh in 3rd place after the Set, then Julie blew away on the second move of the 2nd routine, leaving Lauren to finish the routine by herself. (Seriously Julie produced a cracking Set routine in her first Grade 1 arena).
The old "Pros" Graham and Jason Holland (Reading), turned in their usual quality, came 3rdin the Elite Men, and won the Over 18 Male.
"Official" helpers were Terry Williams (Judge), Coaches were Terry & Graham, & Cheryl Baldwin & Emma Message

Grade 1 South West, Taunton Wellsprings L.C.
First Grade 1 of the season with serious competition expected in the Elite Men and Ladies classes, as this is a qualifying event for selection for the World Championships.
Kayleigh McCarthy Grade 1 Over 18 F
started off by scoring in the mid 8's with her set routine. This was first time out for the new vol, which is a building block towards a much higher tariff at the end of the season. Including full-in half-out for the first time and making one substitution at the end Kayleigh was delighted to score 55.3 and qualify for the National Championships at her first outing of the season.
Lauren Shipman Grade 1 Over 18 F
Lauren also kicked off the season with a great set,and the Vol was also well controlled with one substitution, however a bit of instability at the end resulted in a 0.8 deduction. Otherwise the score would have easily been 55.0 - 56.0. Lauren was pleased, a great start to her season.
Graham Williams Elite Men
An incredibly strong field, reflecting the aspirations of the top men in Great Britain to earn selection points for the 2005 World Championship.
Graham completed two great routines and finished 7th, just outside the points league this time.

A huge competition spread over 5 panels, that included 2 of our members, we also saw a few old friends.
Charley O'Dell Open Under 13 F
Her set started delightfully, then Charley lost focus on the centre and was penalised accordingly. Her Voluntary suffered from the same travel problem, however she was using her biggest Voluntary routine and it scored well.
Talya Stone Closed Under 13 F
Talya produced two very similar routines, and is starting to settle into the competitive environment

Julie Gooderick,
Emma Nicholson,
Charley O'Dell,
Rosie Spreadbury
Emma Nicholson gave two strong routines, and retained her Grade 2 status at her first outing.
Charley O'Dell was competing at her first Grade 2 - a daunting experience, and this showed in her Set routine, however settled down more for her Vol, and achieved a personal best Tariff.
Unfortunately & unusually Julie and Rosie each had a "bad hair day".

Grade 3- 4 East, Laindon, Markhams Chase S.C.
First time this event has been to Laindon in Essex, an our thanks to Recoil T.C. for hosting this event at the last minute. We entered 19 of our Grade 3s and 4s, 5 fell by the wayside, and we turned up with 14 at this Regional competition. This included newcomer Andrew King experiencing his first Graded competition. Andrew acquitted himself well, and settled into the friendly team environment that everyone enjoys so much.
2 Trophies, 2 Team First, 1 Qualifying scores, & 6 of the 14 exceeded their Personal Bests
Far too many outstanding performances to comment on them all, however - well worth noting are:
Stephen Jeffery brought the house down - produced the highest scoring 2 round performances from the entire competition, all ages, genders & grades!!
Emma Preedy's results don't reflect the quality of her performance, as the Set routine scores mask 2.4 deductions for touching the end deck. without these she would have gained the Grade 2 qualifying score.
Competing in their first Grade 4, Charlotte Robinson, Lydia Barton, Clara Williams & Andrew King all put in great performances and looked thoroughly unawed by the occasion. Charlotte in particular looks determined to move to Grade 3 performing the Grade 3 Set as her Voluntary.
Trophies & Medals
1st place Stephen Jeffery who also regained the Grade 2 qualifying score, 3rd place for Andrew King
1st Team Medals went to Emma Preedy, Gemma Davis, & Charlotte Wilkinson
